Foundations Therapy helps families create a solid foundation to promote positive mental health in their children, now and for the future. Founded by Jill Hartrich, LCSW, we offer specialized therapeutic services to parents and their children to address childhood Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), anxiety and related disorders and disruptive behavior disorders.
Families benefit from our thoughtful, intentional approach to navigating challenging circumstances. Our comprehensive approach includes frequent collaboration with your child’s educators and outside providers, school training and consultations, and individualized programs designed to empower families with strengths-based strategies to help your child thrive.
Foundations Therapy strives to help families work through challenging situations to reach a place of compassion, reconciliation and long-lasting change.
Our comprehensive approach provides the basis for long-lasting stability, healing and a loving family connection. We work with evidence-based interventions, school consultations, and programming designed to help families create a compassionate and safe foundation for positive mental health—now and for the future.
A key component of CBT, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is one of the most effective ways to support anxious children and those diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Through compassionate and guided support, we use ERP to help children practice experiencing their fears, and to learn how to tolerate their uncomfortable emotions.
At Foundations Therapy, we utilize evidence-based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as the basis of our individual therapy with children and adolescents. CBT provides a framework to support children in learning how to understand their complex emotions and teaches skills to regulate their feelings. As an evidence-based therapist, Jill Hartrich is devoted to creating a positive foundation for children to learn adaptive coping skills and understand the feelings and thoughts that influence their behavior.
At Foundations Therapy we use multiple therapeutic parent trainings to help your family reconnect and recenter, including Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), PCIT for Selective Mutism, Parent Management Training (PMT), and Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE). Parents of younger children benefit from the live coaching of Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), the gold-standard for children under 7-years-old with ADHD, disruptive behaviors and anxiety.
All of our parent training therapies begin with the focus that the most effective way to help your family flourish is by creating a solid foundation upon which your child and family’s mental health can be built. We believe that by building this foundation, parents will be equipped to navigate the difficulties that may arise when addressing behavioral issues and anxiety.
We believe that it takes a village to support a child, so parents and caregivers are an essential part of a child’s treatment team. Depending on the child’s developmental age, parents are kept abreast of therapeutic skills and ways they can practice those skills at home.
Jill Hartrich confidently combines her education as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and clinical training in New York City’s top mental health organizations to set your family up for success.
Jill approaches a family and its unique struggles with knowledge, tact and compassion. Foundations Therapy was built from the core belief that a combination of education and support will help each family to flourish in the long run.
By measuring behavioral improvements, we help families better understand their children and empathize with their unique struggles. We believe in the power of data and harness it to set you and your family up for success while also creating a reasonable timeline of change. Throughout our sessions, we track and record how you and your family are responding to our treatment plan, making adjustments as needed while consistently working toward the goal of improving your child’s mental health and creating a happier family.
Through behavioral parent trainings, such as Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and Parent Management Training (PMT), we provide families with the strategies necessary to help parents reconnect with their children and transform difficult relationships. We offer highly specialized parent treatment for childhood anxiety, Selective Mutism, OCD and other anxiety related disorders, Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy for Selective Mutism (PCIT-SM).
We also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to support children with anxiety. Our approach provides the foundation for long-lasting stability, healing and a loving family connection.
